2019 school budget allocations

Like all NSW public schools, this week we will receive a School Budget Allocation Report with our funding for 2019. The report will help us manage our total budget delivered through the Resource Allocation Model (RAM).

The RAM supports schools through needs-based funding to ensure a fair, efficient and transparent allocation of funds. Our school has the flexibility to make local decisions based on the specific needs of our students.

We will use our 2019 funding to support students and improve educational outcomes. The school executive will continue to work with the school community as we implement the school plan using this needs-based funding.

ParentWorks is a free online program for Australian parents and caregivers of children 2 to 16. It provides evidence-based parenting strategies to improve parenting skills, confidence and child behaviour. This means that the strategies in the program have been tested and found to work.

Parents and caregivers may find this program helpful for:

Managing challenging child behaviours such as tantrums, aggression, noncompliance, inattentive or hyperactive behaviour, sibling conflict, getting ready for school and/or bed, and behaviours outside the home, such as problems in the supermarket
Increasing their confidence in parenting
Working as a team with their partner

ACU Psychology & Counselling Clinic in Strathfield

The ACU Mary Aikenhead Clinic provides psychology and counselling services. There is no age limit and all walks of life are welcome.

They can also provide customised outreach programs for schools including services for students with special learning needs. Speech Pathology is also available.

Parent Public Lecture Series

UNSW offers a free public lecture series for parents as part of the UNSW Matraville Education Partnership.

All events are free and open to the public, no matter where your children attend school. All lectures will be of interest to parents of both primary and secondary students, unless otherwise noted.

KoalaSafe provides a simple way for parents to monitor their children's online activity. KoalaSafe is an Australian-designed piece of hardware that can be plugged into any modem or router. Doing so creates another separate wireless network that kids can be connected to and parents can control and monitor via its KoalaSafe app (available on Android and iOS) or through its website (https://app.koalasafe.com). Parents can set limits on time spent online, manage access to certain websites and apps as well as track their children's usage. It is a one-time purchase of $US99 (no monthly fees etc).

A number of programs are currently running that might be of interest:

Child Behaviour Research Clinic (University of Sydney) which works with families and children 2 to 8 years with mental health or behavioural/conduct concerns. Located in Camperdown, it is a free service, however families who go through the service do so in a research partnership, meaning they complete assessment and follow up measures. Webinar: "Whole of Family Approaches where there is ongoing contact with children" on Thursday 6 July 2017, 1.30pm - 2.30pm. This webinar will look at options for working with families where fathers who use violence continue to have extensive contact on children. Kookaburra Kids Program: free school holiday camps and events for kids who live in a family where there is a mental illness (for more information, see brochure). They are run across a wide range of dates (dates 2017)
